Rabbi Daniel Lapin remarked at the Road to Majority Conference last Friday that Trump’s election was “proof that God is not yet done with the United States of America.” Lapin is a regular on Religious Right stages and broadcasts, where he condemns liberals and secularists; during the 2016 campaign, he declared that Trump was God’s plan to redeem America from the “sheer evil” of Hillary Clinton.

Lapin spoke on Friday morning alongside major conservative politicians and Trump administration officials, including Scott Pruitt, Ben Carson, Kellyanne Conway, Sen. Mitch McConnell, and Rep. Kevin McCarthy. The high-profile conference also featured presentations from Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, Speaker Paul Ryan, and Vice President Mike Pence.

Many “cannot explain what happened on [election] day,” Lapin said. “To me, [Trump’s election] was proof that God is not yet done with the United States of America. We have a president who legislates and rules on sexual matters affecting the country in a better way than we have seen for many a long year in the United States of America.”

Lapin contended, “No one is comfortable with the underlying biblical foundations of our nation,” referencing John Davenport’s decision to establish the government of New Haven in accordance with the “biblical laws of God.”

Lapin added that the blueprint for the three foundational pillars of government likely derived from the Bible, specifically Isaiah 33: 22, which says that “the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King.”

“That's how it used to be,” he said, “and it's no surprise that we have three foundational pillars of government because they knew better than we do.”

According to Lapin, Genesis 2 and 3 stipulate that if you get “sex and money right, everything will fall into place.” He argues that “decades in this country of huge confusion in those areas”–namely due to “homosexual marriage” and abortion–have prevented America from enjoying that harmony.

Lapin and the Road to Majority audience rejoiced that the Trump presidency has given them a perceived opportunity to reform this nation after “decades of confusion” in the country. “It would appear that our country has been granted a reprieve. It would appear that we were transformed on November the 8th, 2016,” Lapin asserted. “A reprieve, we must seize.”

In the past, Lapin has referred to the Democratic Party as a “doctrine of a sick and evil pathology,” and has called the “culture” of homosexuality and Islam “barbarism.” He has also previously advocated that gay individuals should have been quarantined during the AIDS pandemic in the 1980s.
