Last week, TheDove TV's Perry Atkinson interviewed right-wing commentator Josh Bernstein on his "Focus Today" program to discuss the Obama administration's appointment of a transgender woman, who was an official with the United Church of Christ, to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
During the conversation, Atkinson fumed about the guidelines released by the Obama administration for public schools on how to protect the rights of transgender students, declaring that while President Obama claims to be a Christian, "he himself has been the most offensive attack against Christianity in the history of the United States."
Bernstein responded that Obama is a self-proclaimed Muslim and that anyone who believes that he is a Christian is a conspiracy theorist.
"I'm not a birther," Bernstein said, "I am a truther and I believe the president when he repeatedly tells me over and over and over again that he is a practitioner of the Islamic faith. He is not a Christian and for anyone who thinks that he is, they, in fact, are the conspiracy theorists."
