For the last few weeks, the Religious Right has been up in arms over the fact that President Obama has, on more than one occasion, omitted the phrase "endowed by their Creator" when citing the Declaration of Independence's language about all men being created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights.
To Bryan Fischer, it was proof that President Obama was "deliberately stripping our Christian heritage from us right before our very eyes," while Bill Donohue was convinced it demonstrated that Obama believes that all rights stem from the states, just like in the Soviet Union.
Well, in four speeches over the last few days, Obama has included reference to the "Creator," so can we please put this latest right-wing conspiracy theory to rest:
On the campaign trail for Democrats in recent days, President Barack Obama said the word “Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence, although he omitted the word in several earlier speeches this year.
The Declaration of Independence says, “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
In four speeches on Friday, Saturday and Monday, Obama cited the word “Creator.”
You'd think the Religious Right would have learned a lesson after their last theory about Obama's secret plot to destroy Christianity turned out to be complete nonsense ... but you'd be wrong.
