The Congress of Christian Leaders, whose creation was announced in May by Trump-boosting evangelical leaders Johnnie Moore and Samuel Rodriguez, has revealed its first group of board members. Moore says the group “can move mountains; actually, they can move continents.” Rodriguez said the board members’ “influence far transcends the Christian community in their respective countries” and called the group’s coalescing “an affirmation that this is a vision from God and for now.”

It is not clear from the group’s most recent press release—or its first one in May--exactly what it the new group will be doing. In May, Rodriguez said, “Our aim at the CCL is to say ‘yes’ to all willing partners, private, denominational and governmental, and then apply uncompromising Christ-centered advocacy in support of uniting, growing, strengthening and empowering the entire church.”

In similar fashion, the new release contains plenty of high-minded language but not a lot of detail:

The CCL is a new, representative body for evangelicals and other Christian leaders within the United States and abroad. Anchored in an unwavering commitment to righteousness and justice, the organization is focused on building Gospel unity across the global body of Christ through collaboration, advocacy, proclamation and service. It is an organization committed to taking a “reasoned” approach that is “unifying, missional, objective, non-partisan, global and biblical.”
