Last year, the Religious Right group Movieguide was hysterical about the supposed dangers of The Hunger Games, fearing that the book and film series promote homosexuality and glorify dictators like Adolf Hitler.
At The Awakening 2012, Movieguide head Ted Beahr repeatedly attacked The Hunger Games, blasting parents who brought their children to see the series’ first film for “corrupting your children” with “death and humanism and evil.” Beahr also linked The Hunger Games to promiscuous sex and abortion.
But today, Movieguide announced that the second installment in the movie trilogy, Catching Fire, “has a strong moral worldview” and even posted an interview with stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson discussing the film’s “moral lessons.”
