The International House of Prayer’s Mike Bickle was one of the dominionist figures who Charisma’s Steve Strang interviewed for his recently released book “God and Donald Trump,” and he joined Strang on his podcast yesterday to discuss the topic further, declaring that Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton was “a huge reprieve from heaven” for American Christians.
Bickle said that under the Obama administration, there was an “increased attack on the word of God” that would have gone even further under a Clinton presidency.
“So I was really concerned about Hillary,” he said, “because Hillary was very obviously moving in the same direction, more and more things put in place and laws and things to where if you spoke out what the word of God said about the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage, the sanctity of sex, Jesus as the way of salvation, the clarity of the word of God, the moral imperatives, just all these things, there was going to be resistance.”
Bickle said that he “didn’t have a thought of Donald Trump winning” but that he was “so relieved” when Trump did win because it meant there was a chance to hold back “this tide rising up against Jesus in our culture.”
“It is clearly a reprieve in terms of the raising up of resistance,” he said. “As a matter of fact, there’s new support and liberties and I’m so encouraged, and I go ‘Who would have thought?’ I mean, I couldn’t have guessed that [Trump] would actually have had this kind of bulldog spirit to resist, ‘No, no, no, no.’”
Trump has “almost the same kind of spirit that Churchill had when he stood up to Hitler,” Strang interjected.
“When I look back a year later,” Bickle said, “it was a huge reprieve from heaven that Hillary did not take the level of resistance and let it increase…I look back a year later and I thought, ‘Lord, you helped us.’”
