Glenn Beck invited Rep. Michele Bachmann on to his television program last night to discuss the threat that ISIS poses to the Middle East and the rest of the world, during which she laid out her simple solution to solving the crisis: Kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, defeat his army of radical Islamic fighters, and "be done with it."
When Beck wondered why the U.S. hasn't just sent an elite sniper team in to kill al-Baghdadi, Bachmann said that is exactly what needs to happen, declaring that ISIS only has 12,000 fighters, which will be no match for the U.S. military.
"This is something we can accomplish," she said, to which Beck replied that he, like most Americans, is "tired of war."
"Well, who isn't?" Bachmann responded. "So defeat them, defeat them right away, get serious about it, defeat them and be done with it instead of dragging this out."
When Beck wondered if it was actually possible to defeat Islamic militants like ISIS, Bachmann assured him that it was, saying that such groups have been defeated several times throughout history.
But despite those repeated defeats, Bachmann said, "they have an ideology that tells them to reconstitute" ... which seems to undermine her claim that defeating these sorts of groups is an easy thing to accomplish, does it not?
