Far-right radio host Michael Savage interviewed Donald Trump yesterday, repeatedly hailing the GOP presidential nominee for embracing many of the ideas that he has promoted over the years.
Savage, a longtime Trump cheerleader, spent the rest of the broadcast attacking Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, and was particularly upset about recent remarks Kaine made at the National Progressive Baptist Convention.
Kaine, while talking about his experience as a member of a predominantly black church, said that white people have “got to put ourselves in situations where we’re in the minority and come to understand a reality that’s different than the one that we just take for granted every day” because “if you’re in a majority, you can go through your whole life and not have to learn the ways of anybody other than you.”
“And one of the beautiful things that has been transformational about my church is that by being there, I’ve had to grapple with, understand, listen to, learn from, confront realities that are not necessarily the ones that were my own but over time have become more a part of me,” Kaine added.
A number of conservative outlets distorted Kaine’s remarks and falsely reported that the Democratic vice presidential nominee demanded that white people literally become a minority group in the U.S.
Savage, explaining that he found the clip on Alex Jones’ website InfoWars, claimed that “this weirdo, Kaine, Kaine, Kaine, Kaine, the Caine Mutiny Court Martial” said “that whites must become a minority to atone for racism.”
Complaining about Kaine’s “squeaky voice,” Savage said: “This guy is a vampire. He is a vampire who hates his own race. He is a vampire who wants to enslave you by turning you into a minority in your own country. Is that who you want in the White House? I don’t.”
While speaking with a caller, Savage explained that when he and others, such as Donald Trump, talk about “the forgotten people,” he means “the white people,” “the white family that is targeted by Hillary Clinton and Kaine, who says that you have to become a minority in your own country to know what they’re suffering.”
“It’s a matter of survival,” he said, before adding: “There’s a war coming in this country. They’re not taking my gun and they’re not taking any more of my money. I’ve had enough of this crap and I don’t think I’m alone. I think that Donald Trump represents the last great savior of western civilization. Let me be very clear, there’s a battle for western civilization going on now. You’ve got world civilization, you’ve got Islamic supremacy and you’ve got those attacking white people around the globe.”
