Colorado GOP politician Gordon Klingenschmitt is upset that a New York court fined a wedding business for denying service to a same-sex couple, warning in an email alert that “literally the court is banning Christian worship.”
Klingenschmitt, a Religious Right activist who is the Republican nominee for a seat in the Colorado State House, told members of his Pray In Jesus Name Project in a Saturday email that the court told the business owners that they “cannot worship Christ during a wedding, unless they also worship and participate equally in sodomy in their own home.”
Christians are fined $13,000 and may no longer celebrate the Christian sacrament of marriage in their own home, unless they also host lesbian weddings. Literally the court is banning Christian worship, saying these Christian farmers cannot worship Christ during a wedding, unless they also worship and participate equally in sodomy in their own home. They are now coming into our homes, and dictating our worship. This unconstitutional policy, to punish Christians (with no religious exemptions) will be law in all 50 states, if ENDA is passed.]
In another Pray In Jesus Name Project email on Sunday, Klingenschmitt said Senate Democrats are “literally trying to outlaw Christianity” by attempting to pass a bill overturning the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby ruling.
Democrats are literally trying to outlaw Christianity. Think about that. They now hate religious freedom so much, they're voting to reverse the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which back then was passed 97 to 3 by nearly all Democrats in the U.S. Senate. Today only 42 Republicans defend Christianity. Wow.
He previously accused a gay Democratic congressman of wanting to “behead Christians” and said “demonic” gay rights advocates are forcing Christians to “participate in their sodomy.”
