Three weeks before the election, Kirk Cameron and Ben Carson will host an event featuring “storytelling, worship, inspirational speakers and musical performances that will awaken audiences to return home engaged and committed to making a difference in the real world.”
While the October 18 “Revive Us” event is officially nonpartisan, it is being sponsored by My Faith Votes, a group that Carson chairs that sponsored a meeting between Donald Trump and hundreds of Religious Right leaders back in June. My Faith Votes also promotes conservative activists like Carson, Robert Jeffress, David Barton and Pat Boone who haven’t been shy about their support for Trump.
On a recent My Faith Votes conference call, which also featured Cameron, Carson explicitly called for listeners to back Trump, albeit in his typically perplexing way. In a video for My Faith Votes earlier this year, Carson, a Trump campaign surrogate and adviser, said that the election is a “life or death” moment for America.
“We don’t need a king, we already have a King,” Cameron told CBN in an interview about the “Revive Us” event today. “What we need is to remember who we are and whose we are and begin electing leaders who will represent the King’s ways in our land because they’re good for everybody.”
Surely Trump’s belief that “I alone can fix it” will reassure Cameron that he doesn’t intend to rule like a king.
