Conservative commentator Josh Bernstein, who also serves as a spokesman for the conservative AARP alternative AMAC, claimed in a radio interview last week that the Russian attorney who met with Donald Trump Jr. last year after promising damaging information on Hillary Clinton was “basically a plant” working on behalf of the “deep state.”
In an interview with Virginia talk radio host Rob Schilling, Bernstein dismissed the uproar over the meeting as a “nothingburger,” insisting that the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, may have been “working both sides” as a “double agent.”
Bernstein claimed that Veselnitskaya was “a secret plant to help Hillary Clinton, there’s no question about that” and that she had been invited to a congressional hearing shortly after the Trump Jr. meeting “by the Obama administration and probably Barack Obama himself.” (In reality, it was the husband of the Florida chairwoman of the Trump campaign who reserved Veselnitskaya a seat at the hearing.)
Bernstein said that Veselnitskaya is “part of the deep state” and “tight with the Clintons,” adding that “the Clinton Foundation I’m sure is somewhere involved in this, there’s some kind of money laundering.”
Pat Robertson similarly claimed yesterday that the Trump Jr. meeting was a Democratic set-up.
