Right-wing commentator Josh Bernstein posted a video today in which he responded to the release of the special counsel's report on the findings of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election by alleging that former FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page plotted to assassinate President Trump.
Strzok and Page were both members of Robert Mueller's investigation team until they were removed when it was discovered they had exchanged text messages critical of then-candidate Trump, and that the pair were engaged in an extramarital affair. The two have since become central figures in right-wing conspiracy theories alleging that the FBI cooked up the special counsel investigation to attempt to take down the president.
"I have contacts within the intelligence community, I have contacts within the FBI," Bernstein claimed. "Some of the people that I have talked to, when they said that those 50,000 text messages were missing, well, they recovered about 85-90 percent of them—there is still between 1,800 and 3,600 that have never been recovered."
"What I have been told by my sources—again, close to the FBI and inside the FBI—[is] that those missing text messages may have had credible evidence of an assassination attempt on the president of the United States," Bernstein added. "From what I've been told, there's been an assassination attempt and they talked about it in the text messages!"
