John Guandolo, the disgraced former FBI agent who is now a full-time anti-Muslim commentator, told talk show host Steve Deace on Friday that President Obama and other U.S. officials should be “removed from office” for either “treason” or incompetence for saying that the Islamic State doesn’t represent Islam.
In his speech announcing air strikes on the Islamic State, Obama emphasized that “ISIL is not ‘Islamic,’” a line that echoed his predecessor George W. Bush’s efforts to distinguish the ideology of terrorists from Islam.
But, according to Guandalo, these kind of remarks from people like the president and Secretary of State John Kerry are either intentional lies, “in which case there’s probably treason and laws being broken there,” or a sign that the speaker is “completely incompetent.”
“In either case, they should be removed from office,” he concluded.
From their point of view, the biggest part of this war is the information campaign so that our leaders will parrot the idea that this stuff has nothing to do with Islam. I mean, a sixth grader who does 30 minutes of good research will realize that that’s crap, that’s just simply factually untrue. And so you have got to ask the question, are our leaders saying it and know they’re saying it, in which case there’s probably treason and laws being broken there. Or are they saying it and have no clue, which means they’re completely incompetent. And in either case, they should be removed from office.
