Religious Right activist Janet Porter appeared on Gordon "Dr. Chaps" Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program yesterday to praise God for the "window of opportunity" to outlaw abortion in America that He has provided, thanks to the election of President Trump.
Klingenschmitt and Porter both attended Trump's inauguration, and Porter said that she grew emotional watching it because she saw "the mercy of God" in Trump's win.
"It's because I know what we were spared from," Porter said, noting that had Hillary Clinton won, it would have been "the death of the Constitution."
"What I felt on that day, watching the swearing in, I felt so much hope," she said. "I saw a great big open door and I can tell you, Chaps, I can't wait to run through that open door of opportunity that we now have because of the mercy of God."
Porter said that she was overjoyed to meet with members of Congress like Reps. Louie Gohmert, Steve King and Trent Franks and "talk about how we are going to quit debating and regulating; we're actually going to end abortion in nearly every case" thanks to the federal "Heartbeat Bill" that King recently introduced.
"I can't tell you the optimism I felt walking through the streets of Washington," she said, "that the oppressive heaviness, that this darkness had lifted, that something broke in that town, something broke in our nation, that there is hope, there is opportunity that we haven't seen perhaps in our lifetime."
