On Saturday’s edition of Understanding the Times, End Times radio broadcaster Jan Markell hosted Eric Barger of “Take a Stand! Ministries,” who warned that occult influences in the culture are paving the way for the Antichrist.
Barger specifically cited Harry Potter, Twilight and The Walking Dead as reasons that the Antichrist may soon materialize and attain global power:
Barger: The occult has now become normal. We have, not just the mummy, Frankenstein, the werewolf, today we have Christians defending Harry Potter. One of the biggest shocks to me when I wrote Entertaining Spirits Unaware and we first began to work on that manuscript and I started talking about it, this is about fifteen years ago when I began speaking about it, was how many Christians —I thought it was a no-brainer — that if Christians read the Bible they would understand that we are not to endorse witchcraft and virtually everything that Deuteronomy 18 says for us to stay away from.
But instead, so many letters came in my direction, I put an addendum in Entertaining Spirits Unaware — a 33,000 word addendum was put in that book to update it — I put in letter after letter that we got from people that started out, ‘I am a Christian but,’ and they’d begin to explain why I was wrong about Harry Potter and why there was nothing wrong with Twilight. Now of course we have The Walking Dead, we have the zombies craze.
This is the stuff that’s desensitizing people, preparing them for the supernatural works of the Antichrist when he stands on planet Earth and fakes being Jesus and the world around us is being conditioned to these things right now. You can hear in my voice the urgency that I have about this because we are watching the entire world be conditioned. God help us that the church that listens is not going to be conditioned about these things.
