Gun Advocates Promote ‘Guns and God Appreciation Day’ to Resist ‘Cultural Marxism’

Some Second Amendment activists declared Saturday, September 14 to be “Guns and God Appreciation Day” and hoped that “millions of Americans” would gather to “demonstrate their unwavering support for the 2nd Amendment and their love and appreciation for God.”

Polls taken in the aftermath of recent mass shootings suggest that  supermajorities of Americans support stronger background checks and other gun control measures. But according to Guns and God Appreciation Day organizers, “No proposed gun control law or Gun Free Zone can prevent murderous intent, and would not have prevented any mass shooting or murder event.” Instead, they say, “The mass murder epidemic in America is directly correlated to our diminishing relationship with God. We have far too many God Free Zones.”

The event’s website says calls on families, communities, culture, schools and the public square to “simultaneously embrace God’s love and maintain a healthy fear in the wrath of God.”

The organizer, Constitutional Rights PAC, organized a Gun Appreciation Day in 2013, which they claim was a “massive success” despite “efforts by leftist media outlets” to delegitimize it. Since then, the group says, National Gun Appreciation Day “has been observed annually on January 19th.”

But the expanded focus this year, organizers say, is meant to counter the efforts of “cultural Marxists” to “whittle away the First Amendment right of religious expression and to defame traditional American culture.” Here's more:

This year, looking to build on the enormous success of the first Gun Appreciation Day, Constitutional Rights PAC and the coalition will host Guns and God Appreciation Day. Americans will be gathering across the nation on September 14 to demonstrate their unwavering support for our God-given, natural right of self-defense and our constitutional right to own and bear arms, to demonstrate their faith and devotion to God and the precepts of natural law.

It is our goal to expand Gun Appreciation Day to include defense of the First Amendment’s guarantee of free religious expression – including expression in the town square – to counter a rising tide of propaganda and agitation that belittles Americans’ faith in a higher power and religious virtues. Known generally as cultural Marxists, these leftist “cultural warriors” or “justice warriors” have been relentless in their campaign to whittle away the First Amendment right of religious expression and to defame traditional American culture.

For decades, traditional American norms and values have been undermined by cultural Marxists, the offshoot of Marxism that applies Marxism to cultural goals as well as economics and gave birth to Orwellian political correctness, “multiculturalism” and “anti-racism,” to name but a few examples of the movement’s glossary of Doublespeak terms. Cultural Marxists have waged an insidious campaign to impose their own tyrannous, man-made utopia on America, devoid of natural rights and religion.

Former President Barack Obama acted as a Leninist transmission belt of cultural Marxism in 2008 when he declared that small-town Americans are “bitter,” and “they cling to guns or religion…as a way to explain their frustrations.” Hillary Clinton, also, during the 2016 presidential campaign, was in full cultural-Marxist mode when she said Donald Trump supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables,” characterizing them as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic and Islamaphobic.” This kind of identity politics, intolerance and subversion leading to increased conflict and violence among groups, all, are hallmarks of cultural Marxism at work.

While organizers said they hoped a million Americans would turn out at events around the country, the only rally actually listed on the group’s website as of Monday morning was a rally at the Ohio statehouse sponsored by Ohio Gun Owners and Ohioans for Concealed Carry. That event drew “several hundred gun rights supporters,” according to the Columbus Dispatch. The website did highlight endorsements from Sen. Rand Paul and Dale Herndon of Bikers for Trump.

The event inspired The Deplorable Choir, which sang the National Anthem at President Donald Trump’s recent campaign rally in Houston, to write and stream a new song for the occasion. Sample lyrics: “Guns don’t need Jesus, or fathers in their homes. Guns don’t take prayer away, leave kids on their own… Guns don’t know gender, color or race, and they don’t pull the trigger, ‘cause guns don’t know hate, but people do.”

According to Federal Election Commission records, the Constitutional Rights PAC reported spending a bit under $100,000 in the first six months of the year, including a $10,000 donation to the Free Press Foundation of North Carolina, which decries mainstream media “group think” and sponsors a “news service.” It reported no contributions to campaign committees or independent expenditures this year. During 2017 and 2018, the PAC reported spending less than $35,000, with just over $5,400 of that money going candidates like failed right-wing Senate candidates Kelli Ward of Arizona, Eric Brakey of Maine, and Tim Aalders of Utah, and unsuccessful House candidate Cynthia Dunbar of Virginia.

Last week Sen. Ted Cruz responded to a letter from 145 CEOs urging the Senate to act on background checks and “red flag” legislation by warning company officials to stay out of the gun control debate. He dismissed their concerns as “social signaling at the country club.”
