The White House granted an exclusive interview with National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow to Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, during which Ruddy asserted that media and Democratic Party leaders were committing "jihad" against President Donald Trump. Ruddy is a member of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort club and is described in news reports as a friend of the president.
In an exclusive interview for Newsmax TV uploaded to YouTube today, Kudlow sat down with Ruddy to discuss a wide range of topics pertaining to the Trump administration, including interest rates, tax policy, and the special counsel investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. While speaking to Kudlow about calls to impeach the president coming from some Democrats since the release of the special counsel report, Ruddy asked Kudlow if he foresaw a way the Trump administration could work with Democrats even as they wage “jihad” against the president.
“Do you see any progress with the Democrats as they go into this jihad against our president?” Ruddy asked Kudlow.
Unfazed, Kudlow replied that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation report made it clear that questions about whether Trump colluded with Russia or had obstructed justice during the investigation were “over.” He did not address Ruddy’s characterization of the House Democrats’ investigations of the president’s actions with regard to the Russia matter and evidence of apparent obstruction of justice.
“The real problem in this whole narrative over the past couple of years is not President Trump, it’s Vladimir Putin,” Kudlow said. “The bad guy is not President Trump, it’s Putin!”
