A Wednesday email from Tradition, Family and Property Vice President John Horvat arrived with the subject line, “This is NOT sodomite ‘Pride Month.’”
As Right Wing Watch noted last year of the ultra-traditionalist Catholic TFP:
TFP’s leaders have fought against the legalization of marriage for same-sex couples and urged Catholic bishops to deny communion to politicians who support abortion rights. TFP’s presence at right-wing events is hard to miss because the group’s (male) members wear bright red sash-like capes and sometimes carry medieval-style banners, a nod to the group’s nostalgia for the Middle Ages and monarchy. At conferences, the group’s table often sports a crusader’s helmet; “Crusade” is the name of the group’s magazine.
Horvat’s short email complained that while “June was once celebrated as the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,” now “we hear much about homosexuality ‘Pride Month.’” Horvat linked to a 2011 blog post by Luiz Sérgio Solimeo titled, “Homosexual Ideology, Satanic Pride.”
“Theologians commonly believe that the sin of Lucifer and of the evil angels was one of pride,” wrote Solimeo, which underlies his description of “The Homosexual Ideology’s Luciferian Pride”:
To take pride in practicing the homosexual vice and to proclaim this in public in the streets and squares of the world’s leading cities is a sin of the spirit, a challenge to the Law of God. It is a denial of reality as such and an adhesion to a utopia and to a pathological fantasy.
It is a manifestation of Lucifer’s pride and a repetition of his desperate cry of revolt, “I will not serve.” …
Here is where the satanic pride of the homosexual ideology leads us: it transforms light into darkness and darkness into light and wants to impose this darkness on the world, through the dictatorship of law and the propaganda coming from liberal media.
In his book “Return to Order,” Horvat expresses a yearning for the creation of an “organic Christian society” modeled on medieval feudalism.
