Dan Stein, president of the misleadingly named anti-immigrant group Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), told a radio host in Florida last week that only anti-immigrant activists like himself could save America from Iraq-like collapse.
“After we saw Iraq fall apart, a lot of us are wondering, are we going to see the same post-Obama disaster from, what, eight years of his decimating our immigration control apparatus” Stein asked host Joyce Kaufman on Tuesday.
Later in the interview, Kaufman lamented that too many news hosts are afraid of being “called a bigot, or anti-Hispanic, anti-Islamic.”
Stein responded that it was “brave” people like himself and Kaufman would save America from collapse: “Because in the end, you have to hope civilization will go forward and civilization will produce better political leadership in the future and more knowledgeable people who have a better sweep understanding of history, world history, who have a better appreciation of what is at stake if our civilization crumbles and collapses in this country.”
Stein: Even the New York Times is beginning to talk about the apparent disconnect between the real world, the world as we find it, and the president’s apparent worldview. And after we saw Iraq fall apart, a lot of us are wondering, are we going to see the same post-Obama disaster from, what, eight years of his decimating our immigration control apparatus? There’s a lot of stake in this issue.
…
Kaufman: The average TV anchor doesn’t want to be called a bigot, or anti-Hispanic, anti-Islamic, they can’t take it.
Stein: Well, there are, look, somebody once told me years ago, most people are cowards. But there are brave people like yourself, your listeners, hopefully most of us at FAIR, and people across the country who will not relent, will not give up. Because in the end, you have to hope civilization will go forward and civilization will produce better political leadership in the future and more knowledgeable people who have a better sweep understanding of history, world history, who have a better appreciation of what is at stake if our civilization crumbles and collapses in this country. And only by holding the light, the beacon of light, carried forward to get us through this very difficult period can we move on to greener pastures.
