Bill Koenig, a pundit who covers world affairs from the perspective of their impact on the End Times, told End Times broadcaster Jan Markell recently that he had “worked really, really hard behind the scenes” with allies like Michele Bachmann to lobby President Trump to “reconsider his active involvement in the peace process” in the Mideast and to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
As Peter noted last month, any blow that Trump’s embassy decision might have dealt to the peace process was a “feature, not a bug” for some in the Religious Right who “argue that any land-for-peace deal would violate God’s will.”
In a January 6 interview with Markell, Koenig said that he and people like Bachmann had been working behind the scenes to bring about the move. Koenig said that he had delivered to the White House a letter warning that various natural disasters, such as Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, along with the 9/11 terrorist attacks, were the divine consequences of U.S.-led peace talks. He also included a 572-page book he wrote detailing many more “events, catastrophes that took place when we were pressuring Israel to divide their land.”
“There were some of us that worked really, really hard behind the scenes on two things. One is having President Trump reconsider his active involvement in the peace process, and also going ahead and moving his embassy to Jerusalem, and also acknowledging the reality of the fact that Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Israel,” Koenig said.
“A good friend of yours, Michele Bachmann, and others, we lobbied hard for President Trump to fully understand the biblical significance of this land and that no earthly leader has the right to divide this land,” Koenig told Markell. "And shortly thereafter, President Trump said that he would not impose—in other words, not pressure—the sides to make a decision.”
“So I really thank the Lord for those of us and others that have emphasized the strong evangelical support of the state of Israel and Jerusalem, the importance of the city of Jerusalem, to motivating the president to make this decision at a sooner time,” he said.
While we have no evidence that Koenig has actually had any contact with the White House, Bachmann paid several visits to the White House during Trump’s first year in office as a member of the president’s evangelical advisory board.
