Ever since Rep. Ilhan Omar became one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, right-wing pastor and radio host E.W. Jackson has attacked her continually, declaring that allowing Muslims to serve in office is "just beyond the pale" and insisting that Omar "wasn't really elected by Americans."
On his "The Awakening" radio program yesterday, Jackson took things a step further when he declared that Omar, who arrived as a refugee from Somalia in 1992 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, should be stripped of her citizenship and deported.
Jackson, who was the Republican Party nominee for lieutenant governor of Virginia in 2013 and unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2018, said that if he were in office, he would introduce a way for Americans with birthright citizenship to petition to have the citizenship of naturalized citizens revoked.
"I think there ought to be a way to revoke the citizenship of some people within—oh, I don't know—some period of time, maybe it ought to be 20, 25 years if you're a naturalized citizen," he said. "When you start talking against the country, there ought to be a way for the average American citizen to have an application to have your citizenship revoked."
Jackson went on to say that citizenship for naturalized citizens "ought to be provisional for as long as you're alive, so that when you start doing the stuff that Ilhan Omar is doing, citizens can say, 'This person is not worthy of American citizenship,' and that provisional citizenship should be revoked."
"Yeah, I said it and I mean it," Jackson declared. "There ought to be a way to kick her out of here."
