Donald Trump Jr.: Trump Isn’t Racist Because Of ‘All The Rappers’ He Used To Hang Out With

Donald Trump Jr., who is supposedly focused on running the family business while his dad is president, sat down last month with Ginni Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for a video interview that was posted over the weekend on The Daily Caller. Trump and Thomas spent the bulk of the 30-minute interview complaining about the cruel treatment the president has received from the media and Democrats, with the president’s son repeating his line that the investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election is the greatest “witch hunt” since the Salem witch trials.

Early in the interview, Thomas asked Trump about “the left’s efforts to frame your dad and anyone who supports your dad as a hater, as a racist, as a fascist,” which Trump said were “terrible.”

“The real problem is those things exist, certainly racism exists, but if it’s your response to any argument you can’t win, you actually do a real disservice to those people actually afflicted by it, by those people who are actually oppressed and hurt by real racism and real sexism,” he said.

He added that Trump used to hang out with “rappers” and “all his African-American friends” until he got into politics. “It’s been terrible to watch, because I know him, I’ve seen him my whole life, I’ve seen the things he’s done. It’s amazing, all the rappers, all the this, all his African-American friends, from Jesse Jackson to Al Sharpton, I have pictures with them…it was only when he got into politics that all of a sudden, ‘Oh, he’s the most terrible human being ever,’” he said.

Trump and Thomas spent a large part of the interview talking about Robert Mueller’s investigation into the 2016 election, which Trump insisted was only turning up “all the things the other side” did,  like the Uranium One deal.

Trump acknowledged that there is a “vengeful” element to his delight in this supposed development. “All they had to do was accept the results [of the election], they could have moved on, but now you’re actually uncovering what appear to be some pretty serious plots that would never fly in this country before the prior administration essentially seemingly weaponized the FBI and the DOJ against the duly elected president of this country. If that happened in other parts of the world, third-world nations, we’d be shocked, but it’s happening here and I really hope that we get to the bottom of it fast.”

Thomas then asked Trump about conservative blogger Daniel Greenfield’s contention that we are currently in a “civil war” instigated by the “totalitarian” left.

“I think there certainly is--I mean, there’s an attack on free speech, there’s an attack on the Second Amendment, I mean there’s basic tenets of our Constitution, we’ve seen it, where the other majority party is taking illegal aliens, people who don’t belong in this country legally—how we feel emotionally or not is not so relevant—but they’re taking that stance over the men and women of our military, over children’s insurance, over American citizens, and that’s who they’re choosing to back. The double standard is insane,” Trump said.

He added that it’s “easier to get away with that when you have a media that’s totally complicit.”
