Last night, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski triumphantly proclaimed to Fox News host and Trump sycophant Sean Hannity that Americans can finally say the words “Merry Christmas” this season, all thanks to Trump.
Lewandowski, while praising Trump’s economic proposals, said that America is in store for “a great Christmas, which you can say again, ‘Merry Christmas,’ because Donald Trump is now the president, you can say it again, it’s okay to say, it’s not a pejorative word anymore.”

For years, conservative activists and politicians have whined that they are being persecuted for saying the words “Merry Christmas,” and have launched attacks on public officials and department stores for using the words “Happy Holidays.”
Trump made the so-called “War on Christmas” a theme of his campaign, floating a boycott of Starbucks for showing insufficient reverence for Christmas with their bold red cups and declaring that “if I become president, we’re all going to be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again.”
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, said that his father joined the presidential race in part because he was outraged that the White House renamed the Christmas tree a “holiday tree,” a false claim that was popularized by fake news sites. Supporters like Michele Bachmann lauded Trump for taking on the supposed battle over Christmas and televangelist Jim Bakker predicted that “this could be the last Christmas that we really can celebrate Jesus and say Jesus” if Trump didn’t win.
Incidentally, Trump’s own hotels have themselves used the cursed words “Happy Holidays.”
