The Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody, a devoted supporter of President Trump and reliable promoter of Religious Right leaders, used a Wednesday story to warn against the threat of a “blue wave” in 2018 and “what that could mean for the faith agenda and the Trump administration.”
If Democrats take control of Congress, they “are going to move to impeach the president” right-wing political operative Ralph Reed told CBN. “There’s no question about it.”
Brody also spoke with David Lane, a Christian-nation activist who gives Brody privileged access to his American Renewal Project’s gatherings of politicians and pastors in return for reliably positive coverage.
“We are really clear about what we are doing,” said Lane. “There is no hidden agenda about it. We’re trying to restore America to our Judeo-Christian heritage and reestablish a biblically-based culture in America.”
But, Brody warns, those Christian-America dreams could be squelched if Democrats win in 2018. “Evangelicals see Trump implementing that agenda so far,” he said, “but after 2018, it’s anybody’s guess.”
Brody also gave space to political operatives who suggest the Republican Party should do even more “care and feeding” of the conservative evangelical base, quoting Dave Carney saying that liberals are “motivated by their blind hatred of the president” and Republicans will have to motivate a higher evangelical turnout this year “to overcome what’s building on the Left.”
