In an interview with Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach on Breitbart News’ SiriusXM program this morning, Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow faulted mainstream media for making the murder of Heather Heyer at a white supremacist protest in Virginia “front and center” in their news coverage, and joined Kobach in attacking media outlets that criticized Republicans for remaining silent about the attack.
On the August 18 episode of “Breitbart News Daily,” Marlow faulted cable news for what he viewed as an insufficient amount of coverage of the terror attacks in Spain yesterday and an excessive amount of coverage of Heyer’s murder at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“You have to go to a site like Breitbart if you want to actually know the facts about it,” Marlow said of the attacks in Spain. “This is not front and center. What’s front and center is one death that was horrible over the weekend because it suits the media narrative.”
Marlow also said Republicans who were quick to make statements denouncing the white supremacy on display at the Unite the Right rally last weekend were playing a “deceitful, lying game where there’s never going to be a winner on the right side.”
Kobach, who is running for governor of Kansas and is the head of President Trump’s sham “election integrity” committee, agreed and attacked his local newspaper, the Kansas City Star (or, as he called it, “the Red Star”) for criticizing his silence about the violence in Charlottesville until he was asked about it days later.
“I think it goes without saying that racism and bigotry and white nationalism are not something—they are intolerable, et cetera,” Kobach said. “They are attacking me for not saying it soon enough. They say I should have said it on the day of the event, not a few days later when asked.”
“As if that matters,” Marlow said.
