Last week, Ben Carson appeared on “The Eric Metaxas Show,” where he joked that supporters of his rival Donald Trump are like zombies.
When Metaxas asked how it’s possible that Trump could be carrying the evangelical vote in GOP primary contests, particularly when the billionaire mogul has repeatedly praised Planned Parenthood, Carson said he wasn’t surprised that such comments didn’t impact his standing in the polls: “I don’t know that there’s anything that hurts him. I think he was right when he said, ‘I could shoot somebody and it wouldn’t hurt me.’ People are almost blinded, almost like zombies.”
“You just hope that something will happen to wake people up,” Carson added. “I mean, Planned Parenthood? Are you kidding me?”
During the interview, Carson also blamed his plunge in the polls on “the secular progressives” who tried to bring him down by “coming up with all these false things from my past, all of which have been proven that they were wrong,” and refusing to give him media attention.
