Janet Boynes, an ex-gay activist close with Michele Bachmann, appeared on The Steve Deace Show yesterday to share her story about “leaving homosexuality.” Boynes described the struggle to defeat gay rights as a spiritual battle against the demonic forces of evil, adding that Satan is trying to stop her ex-gay activism.
“There’s a spiritual conflict that is waging war around all of us and it’s a battle between forces, you’ve got good and evil and you’ve got light and darkness. You have to believe that it’s affecting my generation, it’s affecting our future and it’s affecting everybody all around the world whether you believe in same-sex marriage, homosexuality or you don’t believe in it,” she said.
“The enemy knows who we are and that we all are destined to greatness, and I pose a threat, those of us who have left this life and have walked out successfully — for me it’s been sixteen years — I pose a threat to his game plan so I always say the devil should’ve killed me when he had the chance and I’m a force to be reckoned with.”
She went on to chide Ellen DeGeneres, Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Robin Roberts and Oprah Winfrey for “spreading the filth that homosexuality is not only relevant for today but these men and women were born that way, and that’s not so.”
After arguing that gay people should “leave [the church] alone because we’re not out there bothering them,” Boynes pointed to the fact that gay people want to overturn bans on marriage equality and have the freedom to marry as proof that they are “not comfortable in their own skin.”
I think the homosexual community put a big burden on the church. If you are comfortable with who you are, why would you even approach the church? Why don’t you just go on and live your life, enjoy living it and leave some of us alone because we’re not out there bothering them. Why are they trying to go to fifty states and have the marriage amendments changed? You know why, because they’re not comfortable with their own skin, they’re not comfortable with who they are.”
