We currently live in a country where the young children of undocumented immigrants are being separated from their parents and kept in cages at the U.S.-Mexico border, while much of the Republican Party can barely feign interest. Now, we have vitriolic anti-immigrant commentator Ann Coulter going so far as to warn President Trump that the children were “child actors.”
Coulter appeared with Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle and former Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz on yesterday’s episode of “The Next Revolution” with host Steve Hilton, where she defended anti-immigrant rhetoric like the phrase “anchor baby” and launched into a rant in which she accused immigrant children being interviewed on TV of being coached actors.
“These child actors weeping and crying on all the other networks 24/7 right now—do not fall for it, Mr. President. I get very nervous about the president getting his news from TV,” Coulter said.
Hilton tried numerous times to interrupt Coulter and change the topic to no avail. Coulter went on to source her claim in a New Yorker article that appears not to exist, or at least not with the details Coulter describes.
“They describe how these kids, these kids are being coached,” Coulter said. “They’re given scripts to read by liberals, according to the New Yorker. Don’t fall for the actor children.”
Coulter has previously suggested shooting immigrants who are attempting to cross the U.S. southern border and said that “death squads” may be the only hope if Trump helps pass immigration reform legislation. Coulter also has cozy connections with white nationalists and is openly admired by the president.
