As the Trump administration's efforts to dismantle the federal government and undermine the Constitutions are being thwarted by judges throughout the nation, President Donald Trump and his lackeys in Congress have unleashed a coordinated attack against the judiciary.
Appearing on an Intercessors for America podcast on Thursday, right-wing activist Phillip Jauregui of the Judicial Action Group offered some suggestions about what the MAGA movement can do to strike back at the "activist judges" who have been ruling against the Trump administration.
Jauregui suggested that Congress should begin by cutting the judicial branch's budget and then announce that they were appointing "Elon Musk and DOGE to come look at judicial expenditures."
"Hello," Jauregui said. "You think that would spook Chief Justice Roberts and cause him to be concerned?"
During the podcast, Jauregui also twice issued prayers that God will stop judges from engaging in "this wicked lawfare."
"You hold the Supreme Court justices' hearts in your hand, and even these trial court judges that we disagree with so vehemently, you hold their hearts in your hand," Jauregui prayed. "We pray that you'd intervene, Father. Speak to the courts. Speak to the justices and even Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Barrett, who've been key votes on these issues. We pray that they would see the necessity to stop this injustice, to stop this wicked lawfare. That's what it is. It's wicked, Father. It's unconstitutional and it's wicked."
Later, Jauregui prayed specifically for the justices on the Supreme Court, asking God to bring them "into alignment with your will to preserve the proper powers of the presidency."
"Father, we love every one of these Supreme Court justices," he said. "We don't agree with all of them all of the time, but we do love them because we know you love them. And we pray that you give us your heart for them, like the heart of the father for the prodigal son who had done so much wrong and dishonored his family. The father wanted him home. Lord, give us your heart for these justices to have them home, back in your house, back doing the proper job of judges and renewing our national relationship with you."
"Father, we pray that you'd visit them in their dreams, at their home," Jauregui continued. "Send believers who love you around them to give them good counsel, to pray for them and give them good godly fellowship, Lord. We pray that you bless them. Bring all of them individually back to your house, and we pray that you bring the majority of the Supreme Court, Father, into alignment with your will to preserve the proper powers of the presidency right now. We pray these things in the name of Jesus."
Jauregui is a longtime right-wing activist who, in 2018, was so convinced that God had anointed Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court that when Trump instead chose Brett Kavanaugh as his second nominee, Jauregui denounced Kavanaugh as a “usurper” and warned that God would destroy him if he did not withdraw.
More recently, Jaurequi partnered with the American Family Association to launch a Center for Judicial Renewal that seeks to pressure Trump to only nominate judges who share their right-wing "biblical worldview," thereby ensuring that the Supreme Court and all lower courts will be filled with evangelicals who meet their Christian nationalist standards.
