WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following attacks by Donald Trump and the right wing on Minority Leader Schumer's comments about Wednesday's Supreme Court arguments in June Medical Services v. Russo, People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

"Donald Trump's attacks on Sen. Schumer are disingenuous and dishonest, as always. The truth is that the electorate will respond vigorously in the fall to efforts to strip people of reproductive rights, and that’s what Republicans are afraid of. Sen. Schumer understands how important elections are to determining who sits on our federal courts, which in turn determine whether we will maintain the right to control our own bodies. Voters will be thinking about the courts and their enormous role in our lives when they go to the polls in November -- and we believe they will vote for candidates whom they trust to appoint and confirm fair-minded judges, not Donald Trump and his army of Republican Senate enablers."

People For the American Way's Vote the Courts 2020 project connects the dots between candidates and our courts. Find out more here: https://www.pfaw.org/vote-the-courts-2020/.
