WASHINGTON, D.C.— As the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments today in cases that will determine the future of DACA -- Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California; Trump v. NAACP; and McAleenan v. Vidal -- People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:
"Hundreds of thousands of young lives are on the line in these Supreme Court DACA cases -- as are our principles as a nation. The Trump administration's ruthless and ill-considered decision to revoke DACA protections breaks a promise our country made to young people who have built lives here, investing in homes and education, serving our country in the military and working in jobs that contribute to our economy. The administration's actions are not only immoral, they are also unlawful, and the Court should reject them as lower courts have done."
Our associated organization, People for the American Way Foundation, joined an amicus brief opposing the administration's revocation of DACA. Our PFAW Supreme Court term preview report can be found here.
