WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following TIME magazine's selection of People For the American Way board member Dolores Huerta as one of its 100 Women of the Year for the 20th century, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:
"We are thrilled to see our dear friend and People For the American Way board member Dolores Huerta honored by TIME magazine. Dolores was chosen for her activism in the year 1965, when she led a grapeworkers strike in California that became a nationwide phenomenon. Dolores is every bit as vital and influential today and continues to travel the country fighting for equality and justice. Most recently, she went on the stump for our PFAW-endorsed candidates in Virginia's historic 2019 elections and electrified volunteers and voters as we turned Virginia blue. We cherish Dolores Huerta and couldn't be more excited to see her receive this honor."
