Washington D.C. – Following today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to dismiss the lawsuit targeting FDA approval of the abortion medication mifepristone in Food and Drug Administration v Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, preserving access to the medication for the immediate future, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“This is good news – for now. The Court was absolutely right to determine that the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, a group cobbled together for this lawsuit, did not have standing to sue. We’re very thankful that millions of Americans can still have access to safe, legal medication abortion as of today. But we’re not banking on the opponents of reproductive freedom deciding to give up. They won’t, and we need to stay vigilant in our work to protect our right to control our own bodies.”
