Washington, D.C. - Following President Biden's signing of the American Rescue Plan Act, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:
"With today's signing into law of the American Rescue Plan, the Biden-Harris administration is making a huge down payment on its promise to bring about real change for the American people. The COVID pandemic has devastated the health and economic security of millions of Americans, especially communities of color. This legislation will literally save lives and restore hope for countless families. We look forward to similar aggressive action from this administration on other priorities to get our country moving forward again, including an increase in the minimum wage, shoring up voting rights, expanding and protecting access to health care, and meaningful democracy reform."
