Washington, D.C.– Following today’s release of President Biden’s eighth slate of judicial nominees, including 10 nominees for federal district courts, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:
“This slate of judicial nominees is another shining example of the Biden-Harris administration’s ongoing dedication to nominating federal judges with a demonstrated commitment to civil rights. A majority of the 10 district court nominees on the list have substantial experience as public defenders or in legal aid, civil rights, voting rights, or consumer protection. At a time when voting rights are under attack, it’s especially encouraging to see a nominee like Dale Ho, Director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Voting Rights Project, in the high-profile Southern District of New York. This list is also demographically diverse, and is made up predominantly of people of color. We applaud President Biden and Senate Democrats for the great work they continue to do in leading the effort to confirm outstanding federal judges.”
