"Kamala Harris: Freedom" Posted in Chicago
One of the most impactful things we did in Chicago was posting Victoria Cassinova’s “Kamala Harris: Freedom” artwork around the convention center to share our excitement for this election and encouraging folks to vote. Cassinova, one of our Artists For Democracy, describes her art as sending the message “our fight for the future is a fight for our freedom.”
However, that message didn’t seem to resonate with everyone. On the third night of the convention, the posters were vandalized by people who called themselves RFK Jr. and/or Trump supporters. They took spray paint to the posters and tore bits of the wheatpasted artwork off the wall.

Following Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, accepting the presidential nomination of the party, People For President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Vice President Kamala Harris’s acceptance speech tonight was one of the most uplifting and inspirational we’ve heard in a long time. Harris reminded us that she is the presidential candidate who will unite Americans, who will work to strengthen the middle class, who will fight fiercely to defend our freedoms, including our freedom to control our own bodies and our cherished freedom to vote, and who will do it all with joy and love. Harris’s vision for an America of optimism and opportunity is in stark contrast to the oppressive agenda of MAGA and Trump, and the choice this November couldn’t be more clear. People For the American Way will be all-in working for Kamala Harris’s election and for the better future she will deliver for all of us.”
