As the Senate returns for a post-election session in which judicial confirmations will play an important role, federal judges appointed by President Biden continue to cast key votes that help consumers, workers, and others. There were ten such cases in October, including three on antitrust and consumer issues, three on voting, and two concerning workers’ rights.

Each case is summarized below, along with a link to the full People For the American Way Foundation blog entry on the decision and to the ruling itself. Links to previous People For analyses of Biden judge cases are also below. Such rulings by Biden judges demonstrate the importance to all of us of nominating and confirming fair-minded federal judges.

As we anticipate more Trump nominations to our federal courts next year, it is important to recognize the progress that the Biden White House and Senate Democrats have made in trying to rebalance the courts and the important opportunities that remain as the Senate comes back into session. As of November 12, the Senate has confirmed 213 Biden judges, compared with 222 confirmed by McConnell at this point in the Trump presidency. A total of 234 were confirmed by Trump and McConnell. Democrats can match or exceed that total during the post-election period, with 30 Biden nominees pending and 17 already on the Senate floor awaiting action.  Updated statistics can be found here.
