Federal judges nominated by President Biden continued to cast important votes in November that help workers, consumers and others, even as the Senate seeks to confirm more such nominees in its post-election session. There were nine such cases in November, including five on discrimination and other employment issues and decisions on gun safety, product liability, transgender rights, and student loans.
Each case is summarized below, along with a link to the full People For the American Way Foundation blog entry on the decision and to the ruling itself. Links to previous People For analyses of Biden judge cases are also below. Such rulings by Biden judges demonstrate the importance to all of us of nominating and confirming fair-minded federal judges.
As we anticipate more Trump nominations to our federal courts next year, it is important to recognize the progress that the Biden White House and Senate Democrats have made in trying to rebalance the courts and the significant opportunities that remain as the Senate continues its post-election work. As of December 12, the Senate has confirmed 232 Biden judges, with 5 Biden nominees on the calendar and additional nominees expected to be reported out of Committee later this week. Senate action on all nominees on the calendar, including court of appeals nominees, is critical. Updated statistics can be found at peoplefor.org/confirming-fair-minded-judges
